Memorial Day weekend was a blast! The entire family + titi Suzie drove up to Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada on Friday. The trip was 6.5 hours, but Lucas spent most of the time sleeping or eating so he didn’t notice the beautiful scenery of upstate NY.
The view from our hotel room was amazing. The hotel was right across from horseshoe falls on the Canadian side and within walking distance to all the major tourist traps – I mean tourist attractions: Casino, Konica Tower and Clifton Hill.
The first night Lucas got sick, but by the next morning he was all smiles and ready to have some fun. The weather was perfect for walking through the park, riding the misty boat and just enjoying the falls. Did I mentioned we had great time?
We’ll probably return to the falls when Lucas can appreciate the beauty of it all, but he did enjoy this trip; or the food that mom was feeding him, not sure which one he enjoyed the most. Photos of the trip are posted here.

Lucas and daddy spent the day at the park today. It was Lucas’ second visit to Orange County’s Heritage Trail and he had a blast (in between naps). He managed to eat lunch with all the distractions around him and provided some hikers with some musical entertainment as well.
We managed to walk 2.75 miles (5.5 miles round trip), but didn’t quite made it to the town of Chester, maybe next time. Tomorrow the entire family is going to Bear Mountain to walk around the lake.

It seems that just a few days ago we brought our new baby home (with fragile stickers and all) and he is already six months old!
But don’t let his age fool you; he doesn’t fit into anything unless it is 12-18 months. At 21 pounds he is also really strong, to the point of leaving bruises in his parents arms when he wants to hold on tight.
Lucas also just learned how to roll over in bed. Oh boy!
The latest pictures are posted here.

It’s just amazing how fast time travels and we don’t even notice it. Lucas is already 3 months old and he is already in charge of our lives.
He is not your typical baby (what does a typical baby look like?), he likes to play rough and he likes noisy music – I wonder where he gets that from…
He drinks milk like is running out of style (6 oz every 3 hours) and he hates it if we take his bottle out before it’s empty. Lucas is sleeping through the night – most nights. We put him to bed around 8:30p and he wakes up between 5:00a and 6:00a looking for his bottle.
We are soooo in love with him. What a chrismas present!

It is with infinite happiness that Monica and I share with you the great news announcing the arrival of our beautiful boy, Lucas Alburquerque. He was born at 8:28pm on September 19th, 2008 in Middletown, NY, weighing 7lbs 6oz and 20.5″ long.
We are all very proud of Monica who had to endure 24 hours laying still on a bed – and some of you know how hard it is for her to remain still for an extended period of time. There were some minor complications and Lucas had to be delivered via c-section, but we are thankful and happy to report that both mother and child are happy and healthy.
We are also so very proud of our little Lucas, whose name means the bringer of light. And we can certainly see how he’s already living up to his name by brighten up our lives.
We thank you all for your wonderful support and love!
